Bachelor in Teaching and Learning – ECE and New Zealand National Nanny Certificate
Hi, my name is Kristyn. I live in Okuku, North Canterbury, with my husband Darrin and our two children Lily, 13 years old and Niko, 11 years old. We also have a 19-year-old son who is a sous chef living in Christchurch. We live on a peaceful, 10-acre lifestyle block where we spend a lot of our time outdoors with our horses, sheep, cows, goats and chickens. We also have two outside dogs, a cat and a blue tongue lizard.
I am a qualified teacher and hold a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood. I have spent over twenty years as a qualified Nanny around New Zealand. I believe that children learn best when they are relaxed, happy and have an environment that is truly their own playground to explore, learn and be creative in. I am passionate about quality care, bi-cultural practices and will provide an unhurried, safe, environment, where children can learn at their own pace.
I have a warm, safe, inviting home with ample space that has lots areas for free movement and outdoor play. The children will be able to plant and harvest their own vegetables and fruits from our vegetable gardens, care for our farm animals which will include the daily collection of eggs from our hens that we will use for home baking. Treasures left behind from papatūānuku will be collected from our own forest. Kaitiakitanga practices will grow From our connection with nature. Alongside these enriched learning experiences I will provide art, messy play, junk construction, loose part play, music and movement and heuristic play for infants..
Nutritional, healthy and organic meals will be provided throughout the day from morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late kai. These will be prepared at a high standard with a weekly meal plan set each Monday. Packed meals will be provided when we are out exploring the community
I really look forward to meeting you, your children and your whānau.
